Letter to Fremantle council and The Hon G.M. Castrilli

Letter to Fremantle council and The Hon G.M. Castrilli

I am so sickened by Fremantle Council’s blatant disrespect for the Fremantle Market stall-holders that I submit this as an official complaint.

After almost a year of pleading with council to have an independent valuation done on the Fremantle markets, to settle the dispute between the Murdoch management and the stall-holders, we finally discovered that the report was in a month ago. (or being edited by the lawyers no doubt?)

The stall-holders were notified by the press!

Colin Wright, the stall-holder spokesperson, contacted the council twice to see the report. His lawyer requested it twice as well and he was also blown off. Finally, it was found posted on the Councils website. (The condensed version - all details hidden by confidentiality) They didn’t even have the courtesy to direct him to the website.

What kind of professional standard is this? Just common decency I would expect; especially knowing full well the repercussions and sheer devastation that this decision has on so many people.

Shame on you all

2 weeks later: The Hon G.M. Castrilli replied with a letter saying he is in no position to act on these matters - basically, no rules were broken.
