The Murdoch's and the Fremantle City Council

Hi Sonya:
I tried to post my comment to your Blog, but keep getting an error code and message:
Can you post this for me under an open ID: P Hunt, Dallas, Texas

As usual, Sonya has hit the nail on the head! The Murdoch's and the Fremantle City Council have caused unimaginable damage to the lives of people who have been staunch supporters of the Murdoch's business for decades.

Market stalls are just that - stalls. The tenants can't afford to pay the outrageous rents that are now being demanded of them. Many are staying in hopes that they can at least recoup some of their losses over the Christmas trading period, before being forced to walk away from their livelihoods.

To the many people who have contributed to the downfall of the once magnificent Fremantle Market atmosphere and experience: "It is time to take the bull by the horns, own up to your errors in judgement and take an active roll in fixing what you have broken."

The Murdoch brother's greed at a time when the world is in such financial turmoil is unfathomable. They clearly have no conscience - for their benefit, the definition of that word is "the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action."

Sonya's Blog is a true reflection of the way the people of not just the City of Fremantle, but the State, the Country and many of those of us living overseas feel about the situation at the Fremantle Markets. Living in the USA hasn't stopped me being aware of what is happening to the Markets.

When I was in Perth this past June I took friends from Dallas to see the Fremantle Markets - considering it to be a "must see" for them as tourists who would enjoy the atmosphere and diversity. What we found was not the Markets that I know so well and love, but a mere shadow of a world famous Fremantle landmark destination.

Those of you who are responsible for the sad decline of this world famous tourist destination need to 'wise up' before the City loses this amazing Tourist asset!
