Fremantle Market money song

One of Freo's popular buskers has been taking note of the word on the street and has composed this little song.

Money Market

There once was a market
Where trading was fair
The people came from miles
To laugh and to share
The traders all smiled
And sang as they worked
And the people all knew
This was the salt of the earth.

The market was held
In an old western town
A place on the edge
That the badlands surround
Out of the wilderness
Came a renegade band
That hid behind the sheriff
And the law of the land.

Then plundered the market
And took all they could
While the lawman smiled and winked
Which made them look good
Most of the people knew this was wrong
But they turned a blind eye
‘cause the law was too strong.

Some of the townsfolk tried to resist
They didn’t have the strength
To fight men such as this
The resisters was tarred n feathered
And thrown to the ground
Then to make an example
They were dragged out of town.

Much law is unjust, the law is an ass
Will the people rise up or just lay in the grass
‘tis not the beginning
Nor is it the end
To end an injustice you need Honest men.
