alternative therapies

Cancer takes over your life and to a very large degree the lives of all the people around you. Everyone gathers information and enlists themselves in your army. Who is this enemy? Who is to blame, how did it get there and what is its intention? Is the war about cancer or is the war about me? What have I done to attract this? Well you can do your head in with all of this and end up paranoid about everything you eat or don’t eat.

The medical world has its own views and the nutritionists and alternative healers have theirs. But, for me it’s just a game of Russian roulette – the wrong choice could mean death. Time is stressed and playing with options could be deadly. Both sides have their statistics and promises and both admit to no guarantees. I have decided to take the advice of the surgeon as my main line of fire. It’s a simple matter of let’s get this ugly out of my body first. From a nutritional point of view I know that I must make my body strong and get my immune system operating at peak condition. Keeping my mind clear and my thoughts focused on being well is immensely important. Being receptive to love and support and caring from others is also vital to my healing.

I went to see a research scientist who has experimented with just about every natural therapy known. In short he has stated that many worked in the lab but fell short in human trials. He found a number of things which appear to hold back the disease and many seem to hold it in remission, but as yet, no definite cure. We spoke of many possibilities and probabilities. but I just wasn’t able to risk my life on what might be the next big break through. Cancer doesn’t wait and right now I have caught it early and can’t afford to wait for it to grow or spread. Alternative therapies will compliment my treatment but I am not willing to make them my only treatment.

We talked of many things and he was really informative and inspirational. At the moment he is working with selenium and hopes to prove his findings in the near future. He did point out though that many things looked amazing in the initial stages but didn’t really deliver at the far end. He did find that some things were very beneficial and they were broccoli, green tea, fish oil, anti oxidants, garlic and omega 3 oils.

He also mentioned that inflammation and hormones seemed to be related to causing cancer and also trans fats and the ratio of too much omega 6 creating an imbalance of omega 3. The good oils are olive oil linseed (flaxseed) and fish oils. Margarine, many vegetable oils and canola oil etc are to be avoided as is animal fat.

As I have had rheumatoid arthritis, I have known about the fats for years. I knew from experience how many foods create inflammation. Oils, as he says, were right there at the top of the list. He and others have now made me rethink the whole dairy thing as well. I have not had any dairy for two months now and I can say for sure I do feel much less inflammation in my body. (I am concerned about the antibiotics and hormones in meat and dairy and have found that dairy products do cause inflammation in my body - also I am trying to keep my body more alkaline and these foods are acidic) I am only eating fish, free range eggs, nuts, seeds and beans and all fruit and vegetables. I have added molasses, spiralina and kelp to my diet. I use rice milk instead of milk. I feel fantastic, my hair has become really shiny and my skin is better that it was ten years ago. My energy has increased and my mind is clearer and I have greater concentration.

The molasses is for the rich iron content and abundant minerals as is the spiralina. Both are highly beneficial to oxygenation and oxygen is probably the most healing property on earth. The kelp I have adopted from the Japanese as Japan has a very low rate of breast cancer. (Japanese also eat heaps of fish and no dairy) Kelp is also rich in minerals and is beneficial in absorbing radiation. Right now everything I eat or don’t eat has a reason. Food has to be my medicine and I will not allow anything into my body which may rob me of energy or put stress on my system. I have always paid attention to my health, but I must say that I have been appalled at how much crap is in our food these days. A lot of the labelling is misleading and some is outright BS.

My other concern right now is about the water in our taps. Chlorine is looking highly suspicious as a cancer causing agent and the amount of rust, lime and other metals coming through is also very concerning. I have installed a strong filter to the taps, but I also wonder how many other products we consume with chlorinated water in them. I am also wondering about how much chlorine is breathed in or absorbed by the skin in the bath or shower.
